Telecom/Utility Labourer – Full Time – $20.00-$24.00 hr

Job Location: GTA

Province: Ontario

 

Working with the field supervisor and lead hand, this position will provide basic labourer tasks for the horizontal drilling team including driving support vehicle (s) used to transport equipment/materials to various project sites.

 

Responsibilities:

  • A valid, clean Ontario D class license (DZ/AZ and asset)
  • Good Attitude and Work Ethic
  • Must be able to work in a high paced working environment
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs
  • Perform different construction tasks using rakes, shovels,  wheelbarrows and related construction tools
  • Assist in transporting loading, unloading materials and tools.
  • Set the installation of the road safety on site.
  • Read and interpret plans or diagrams and locates
  • Communicate with co-workers for prep work and project coordination.
  • Report on work/milestones and delays to the Lead Hand.
  • Regularly perform Health & Safety inspection of equipment and tools
  • Follow equipment maintenance schedule and advise if repair is required.
  • Perform other tasks related to this function.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • English proficiency;
  • Relevant experience in the field of telecommunications;
  • Valid AZ or DZ driver’s license;
  • Some previous experience in the field of construction/Telecommunications
  • Previous Field Experience an asset.
  • Ability to operate a backhoe or other construction equipment an asset
  • Book 7 knowledge and asset
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Working Lead Hand-Drilling Crews – Full Time – $32.00-$38.00 hr

 

Job Location: GTA

Province: Ontario

 

Working with the Director of Construction Services and Field Supervisor you will be responsible for the onsite direction of a telecom construction team including  horizontal driller,  locator,  hydrovac  truck and  labourers including  the installation of vaults, pedestals and the pulling in of cables , ensure all tasks are performed safely, correctly and on time.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all Health and Safety Process and Procedures are followed such as but not limited to Safety Talk ,Daily inspection logs, Vehicle inspections, site inspections  etc
  • Maintain/organize all site equipment
  • Ensure the safe  transport of tools, materials and equipment in a safe and damage free manner
  • Understanding of Construction Rules and Regulations such as  Books 7 and Traffic Control,
  • Have a thorough understanding of industry tools and equipment
  • Good Attitude and Work Ethic including the ability to mentor, train and motivate team
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and direct team in the safest and most cost effective way to complete the job
  • Maintain/organize all site equipment
  • Trouble shoot any issues including equipment issues and work with team of supervisors to resolve
  • Able to assist all members as required
  • Work to ensure that we plan ahead and work to alleviate any issues that may delay our abilities to complete all task as safety, efficiently and cost effectively as possible

Horizontal Drill Operator – Full Time – $32.00-$36.00 hr

Job Location: GTA

Province: Ontario

 

Working with the field supervisor and lead hand, this position will operate a Directional Bore machine and drive the support vehicle (s) used to transport this equipment to various project sites.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload directional bore equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
  • Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner
  • Good Attitude and Work Ethic
  • Complete Driver’s logbook & daily vehicle inspection (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, accident or incident reports
  • Complete a daily inspection on bore equipment prior to commencing work
  • Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing
  • In conjunction with locator, operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables and / or duct
  • Trouble shoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance or resolution
  • Able to operate the drill locater as required

Role: Project Coordinator

Location: Markham Ontario

Under the general supervision of the Director of Construction Services, the Project Coordinator duties will be the planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting of projects from their inception to completion. The path of the Project Coordinator is to grow and learn estimating to help in the submissions of quotes as well through scheduling software to drive the successful completion of projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret and understand contract drawings, specifications
  • Assist in the initial planning and scheduling of construction projects through preparation of critical path schedules in conduction with the Field Supervisors and Director of Construction
  • Creates reports on work schedules, productivity, work completed and material yields
  • Working with the Locate Coordinator ensure all locates, road occupancy permits etc are received and prepared for the field
  • Incorporate addendum’s to plans and specifications into ongoing estimates
  • Generate network tickets; issue daily work location summary to management and clients
  • Oversees QC and adherence to contract requirements
  • Solicitation of sub-trade pricing for tenders
  • Ensures project cost requirements are met and coding procedures are followed by providing job cost analysis
  • Expedites progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and all extra-work orders as per contract
  • Coordinates procurement of construction materials ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of purchase orders
  • Processes material packing slips verifying quantities and receipt of materials
  • Understanding of Rogers Construction practices an asset
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills / Competencies:

  • Post secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: 1 – 2 years relevant experience coordinating projects or managing data
  • Communication: ability to effectively and clearly communicate information and clarify requirements both verbally and in writing
  • Computer: proficient with Microsoft Office Products including Excel and Word
  • Organized: ensure information stored electronically and project files are quickly and easily accessible
  • Attention to detail: documented quantities and financial reports must accurately reflect reality

Role: HFC Construction Field Supervisor

Location: Markham Ontario

Posting: February, 2019

Salary: $65,000-$80,000 year

 

Synergy is looking for an experienced HFC Construction Technician with the ability to lead implementation changes to Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks from inception to turnover. This is a hands’ on position with an expectation that you will not only plan and coordinate the cutover activities but will actively participate in the equipment installation.

 

In this role you will be expected to review all plans; survey scope of work in the field; identify all challenges and opportunities and prepare a quote for submission. Scope of role includes working with peers to ensure all cable placement and fiber splicing is complete and planning the cut over activities to ensure the least amount of down time for existing customers. You will lead in house RF technicians and/or subcontractors during all equipment installation and cut over activities. Additional responsibilities include quality control and troubleshooting. This role will also involve mentoring and developing staff on the proper methods of equipment handling and installation. Experience working with hard line coaxial cables and the ability to understand RF engineering design drawings is a must. Fiber experience would be an asset.

  • Cross reference material ordered and received to material required
  • Coordinate equipment installation and cutover activities
  • Participate in equipment installation and cutover activities
  • Troubleshoot problems that are identified during all activities and provide solutions
  • Conduct system tests, keep records and render reports relative to system operation
  • Clearly update construction drawings with accurate as built information
  • Submit accurate daily activity reports
  • Perform quality control inspections on work performed by others
  • Educate and mentor others for all RF equipment installation activity
  • Perform emergency restoration of signal outages in the feeder/distribution, trunk and fiber systems
  • Operate and maintain assigned vehicle in accordance with Company guidelines
  • Ensure that vehicle is stocked with necessary tools and equipment
  • Ensure all tools and test equipment is maintained and ready for use
